Being used unexpectedly.

HEYO!

This week has been SO fulfilling! It’s been a great week of ministry, community, and fellowship. I really enjoy the ministry that we’re working with! Everyday here looks different. Each day is either filled with prayer walking, VBS, speaking at micro-churches, or hospital visits. My favorite so far has been the VBS. It gives the kids a safe space to go to have fun, get a hot meal, and learn about Jesus! Plus, I get to learn more Spanish. 🙂 It has also opened doors to make a difference within families. Actually, this week I was able to be apart of a really cool God moment. So back-story…last week while going up and down the street, inviting kids to attend VBS, we came across a woman who had a serious injury. This single mother of three got into a car accident 5 months ago, and was unable to walk on it or even bend it. She has to walk with crutches and is always in pain. Because of these conditions, she is unable to work and provide for her kids at times. After we had prayed over for her, my heart felt so heavy. Seeing her tears broke my heart. with a translator (side note: the translators and people that work with this farm/ministry are AMAZING! i love them so much and i can’t imagine leaving them so soon. shoutout to them!) i asked to stay to continue to talk and pray with her. This past week leading up to the next day of VBS, I had been praying for her daily. And praying for God to do a wonder. So when the next day of VBS rolls around, I walk to her house expecting something completely different than what actually happened. First, we walk in and she is only walking in with one crutch instead of two!! WHOOP! WHOOP! And she said how the pain had gotten so much better. It was so much change in just a week difference! At this point, I’m ready to celebrate, but she had other news. She begins to tell us how her oldest child had gone missing the night before and is no where to be found. Immediately, our minds to go the possibility of someone taking the child because the community here is so tight that the child would have ran to someone that she knew or family yet no one had seen her. Me, along with the couple of people I was with, sit down to comfort and pray for her child to return. Maybe 5 minutes after praying, a couple boys come up saying that they have found her! We were able to get her and bring her back home. It was so cool to see the power of prayer. How God heard the mother’s cries and had a purpose for us being there that day.

It wasn’t how I thought I was going to be used by Him that day, but God had a bigger idea in mind. I’m starting to see how sometimes just the presence of Christ-followers makes such a difference on a person. It gives them hope. It inspires their faith. There doesn’t always have to be a big, crazy moment to make a difference in someone’s life, when sometimes people just need to be surrounded by people of faith.

Because next week is our last week of ministry in Nicaragua, I only have one more chance of seeing that mother. But I am confident that God has a plan on her life, and although I’m disappointed that I’m not able to see that pan out, it brings me comfort seeing how God has already moved so much in her life this past week.

As always, thanks for reading and keeping up with me! I’m so thankful to have y’all’s support through this- you have no idea. LOVE YOU GUYS!
